1. They arrived in Canada in 1954; Both were born in Santo Stefano, in Aspromonte, Reggio Calabria, Italy,
2. As most Immigrants, WW2 left their country in ruin, and there was not much of left for them to stay, they wanted a better future for them and their children, my father immigrated to Canada in 1954, and my mother arrived a few years later with their first-born son Rocco
3. They were sponsored by other relatives who came to North Bay to help grow the Mining, Railway industry in Northern Ontario
4. My Father worked at CPR as a Carman for 30 years, my mother was a homemaker, raising 5 boys.
5. The 5 Sons – Rocco Scarfone (North Bay, deceased) (Baker) Jim/Beth Scarfone (New York, NY) (HR executive), Ron/Lisa Scarfone (London, On) (Hospitality business) Fred/Kelly Scarfone (North Bay) (Self-employed/ONR), Anthony/Michelle Scarfone (North Bay) (RBC Dominion Securities, Wealth Advisor)
6. There are 9 grandchildren, and 3 step-grandchildren.
Many people from our little village (Santo Stefano, in Aspermonte) immigrated to North Bay, familiar last names like: Caliciuri / D’Agostino / Zimballatti / Fava / Delfino / Moribito / Germano / Crea / Sinicrope / Iati / Priolo and many others that I can’t remember.
My Fathers brother and sisters all deceased now) that lived in North Bay and Kitchener were.
